Standard Six- External Development Leadership
A school executive will design structures and processes that result in community engagement, support, and ownership. Acknowledging that schools no longer reflect but, in fact, build community, the leader proactively creates with staff, opportunities for parents/guardians, community, and business representatives to participate as “stockholders” in the school such that continued investment of resources and good will are not left to chance.

As part of the DPLA program, we had to create a community assets map outlining all resources available to the community. This aimed to ensure open lines of communication between home, school, and the community.
In my role at Brogden, I am also the point of contact for the Triangle Literacy Council. This resources was utilized as an intervention at the school for all grade levels. They met for 45 minutes twice a week.
I have worked with parents in a variety of ways. My main interaction has been surrounding the area of student behavior, both positive and negative. I work to ensure the school, student, and home are on the same page regarding expectations and consequences. This is done though phone calls, parent meetings, and team meetings.

The school executive designs protocols and processes in order to comply with federal, state, and district mandates.
I led a professional development for the staff on the emergency procedures. This ensured our staff knew how to react in case of an actual emergency. I also helped to led the necessary drills such as fire drills, tornado drills, and lock downs.
I was a co-leader for the MTSS team at Brogden. Brogden had a limited plan for MTSS so with the team I helped to roll out the initial implementation plan. Below shows the data tracking folders I created for the teachers. This information was presented to the staff during a staff meeting.
